A tufted woolly perennial herb has yellow button flowering heads on long stalks up to 50 cm high.
The leaves are blue to olive-green, flowering time is September to December.
Yellow Buttons likes a shallow, well drained, moist, sandy to clay soils, in full sun to semi-shade.
Habitat: Creek-line herb-rich woodland, damp forest, escarpment scrubland, herb-rich foothill, plains grassy wetland and woodland.
Host plant for the Australian Painted Lady butterfly , Vanessa kershawi.
